If Henry King’s Untamed (20th Century Fox, 1955) were being filmed today
It would probably be an epic television mini-series. Based on Helga Moray’s riches t rags novel, which opens in 1847, and continues for decades, it is the story of a Dutchman (Tyrone Power) and an English girl (Susan Hayward) on a Boer trek in South Africa. Robert Mitchum was originally cast in the Power role by Fox production chief Daryl F. Zanuck . Agnes Moorehead and Richard Egan contributed outstanding performances. Waxman composed a rousing score that that captures the spirit of the action.
