Program Notes

Four Scenes of Childhood for violin and piano was composed by Franz Waxman in 1948 for Jascha Heifetz on the occasion of the birth of his son Jay. The manuscript was discovered after the composer’s death and has only recently been performed in concerts and recorded as part of Old Acquaintances. A Hyperion CD with Marianne Thorsen, as violin soloist and Ian Brown, piano is set to be released in 2015.
